mac audio cleanup software

Postby chocolate-cake » Fri Jul 30, 2010 8:16 pm

just made the switch a few months back to Mac and am looking for a easy-to-use audio cleanup program. doesn't have to be amazing, this is just for personal use, not to clean up audio for comps/reissues etc..
any suggestions? thanks in advance

Audacity has a click removal feature that I've used before and it seems to do the job. It also has some other noise removal options and it's free.
This site shows you how it works --> http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... ck_Removal
And the software is here --> http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Griffin makes Final Vinyl as a free download. The first few times I've used the program it was a gem, super easy and did the job. But for some reason it's not working for me any more, but worth a try. http://www.griffintechnology.com/software

I've heard a few good things about http://www.clickrepair.net but have never used it.

Hope this helps.

audacity doesn't give me that option in the free version. it's greyed out.

sorry, just figured out you had to have the track selected first. it makes everything sound like an ultra-compressed youtube clip though?

well depends on how much you move the threshold sliders. For a light cleaning its ok, but if it's a really dirty record it won't do magic. Also, try downloading the Hard Limiter plug-in, it may work better for you.
