Soul Spectrum Edinburgh is a monthly night brought to you by Jazzman Records Witches Brew, one half of edinburgh's motherfunk team along with the uk's finest broad minded soul and funk dj's.
The Music
A 5 hour journey across the spectrum of funky edged soul, from hard hitting 60's northern and 70's rare gems to a touch of inspirational disco and beyond. Doors 8pm - 1am
The Sound System
With brand new D&B Q7 & Q-Sub Speakers with matching D&B D12 Amps there will be no compromise on the sound quality, in other words you'll be hearing this music as it was meant to be heard: LOUD & CLEAR.

JASON STIRLAND - (witches brew)
Jason has run the witchsbrew website for over 7 years now and has worked for Soul Brother Records for longer. Currently based in the North East he also co-runs the NESU – a Soul club mainly featuring 60’s and Northern. His real love is probably 70’s - and 80’s as long as it’s not cheesy, syrupy muck - Soul with what some would call ‘a funky edge’: just good music by any other name, and dislikes ‘s ‘scene rulemakers’, narrow minded boundaries and the phenomenon of ‘musical chairs’ (the act of only dancing to ‘known’ tunes) He can also be heard waffling along to soul and funk records at http://thesoulbrew.podbean.com

FRYER- (Jazzman / Motherfunk / Fryers)
Fryer has been DJing Soul and Funk for over 15 years and is one half of Edinburgh’s well respected Motherfunk night. A long time collector of deep funk he also runs the 12” department of world renowned Jazzman records as well as managing his own sub-label, "Fryers Records", an imprint specialising in classic Deep Funk and Modern Soul sides. A regular at Keb Darge’s Deep Funk as well as the 100 club on Oxford Street, recent forays into the strange world of northern soul has seen Fryer move towards the more soulful side of things. |

IAN WRIGHT- ( BBE/ Sisterfunk)
IAN WRIGHT is obviously best known for his two sister funk compilations, but aside from his love of funk he has developed an equally unhealthy obsession for all types of soul music over the last few years.....all still on original 45's of course. So these days you're just as likely to hear northern, modern soul and disco blasting out from one of his sets as you are the latest funk discovery, but always with his 'all killers - no fillers' guarantee. Wrighty's happiest when he's playing obscure soul music to people who've never heard it before but dont worry, if you cant dance to it he wont be playing it! |
